Reflection as measurement

A psychometric profile, built from the way you see the world.

How it works

Three steps. One profile.

Personality assessment doesn't need to feel like a test. We turn the experience into a quiet act of reflection — and turn what you write into a profile you can actually use.

One

See

Eighteen carefully selected images appear, one at a time. Each is deliberately ambiguous — a figure in a doorway, a path through trees, two people at a table — designed to surface something different about how you interpret the world.

No timer. No instructions on what to look for. Sit with each image as long as you like.
Two

Reflect

Write what comes to mind, or simply speak it. Voice-to-text is built in — speech is faster, looser, and reveals more than typing. There are no leading questions. No right answers. Just an image, a blank space, and a few sentences.

Most people write 30–80 words per image. The richer the reflection, the more we can read.
Three

Receive

Your profile arrives within the hour. A Big Five portrait with facet-level detail, a communication-style summary, and an evidence trail — every score linked back to specific reflections, in your own words. Auditable. Yours to read, challenge, or retake.

Not a test result. A reading. A reflection of what you reflected.
Why this works
People reveal themselves most clearly when they're not being asked about themselves.
— A foundation eighty years old

The clinical lineage of projection.

Picture-elicitation methods have measured personality since Murray's 1943 Thematic Apperception Test. The science is settled. What changed is our ability to read the responses at scale — without a clinician in the room.

What you say about an image is who you are.

An ambiguous image is a mirror that doesn't lie. Whether you see threat or warmth, story or scene, motion or stillness — that pattern, repeated across eighteen images, is a fingerprint of how you see the world.

A modern stack, doing classical work.

Each reflection is read by an ensemble of large language models alongside open psycholinguistic lexicons. They cross-check each other. Every score has confidence intervals, evidence, and a clear chain back to the words you wrote.

Why this is different

Personality measurement is overdue for a reset.

Self-report inventories ask you to grade yourself. Text-scraping tools read what you write to the world. Both methods are showing their age. We chose a third path.

The old way

  • Hundreds of items asking you to rate yourself on a 1-7 scale
  • Gameable, fatiguing, and culturally narrow
  • Passive scraping of social media or workplace messages
  • Outputs you can't audit, with effects you can't see
  • Now restricted under the EU AI Act in workplace contexts

The percpetu way

  • Eighteen ambiguous images that invite reflection, not rating
  • Active, consent-based, conversational — by voice if preferred
  • Every score traces to the reflections that produced it
  • Built for regulated industries — GDPR-aligned, AI Act-ready
  • A profile you can read, challenge, and keep retaking over time
What you receive

A profile in your own words.

Every score is paired with an interpretation — and the specific reflections that produced it. No black boxes. No theatrical certainty.

For organisations

Two product surfaces. One quiet kernel.

The same reflection engine, deployed for two very different jobs. One helps you understand who's on your team. The other helps you understand how they're doing.
